Position: Area Maintenance Engineer - Olefins 6
SABIC UK Petrochemicals Limited, headquartered in the Wilton Centre, operates manufacturing and storage facilities across two key sites, Wilton International and North Tees.
The Wilton International site is home to our two primary production facilities: Olefins 6, a large-scale ethylene cracker, and System 18, recognized as one of the largest Low-Density Polyethylene plants globally. Our operations produce essential chemicals and materials, including ethylene and LDPE, which serve as fundamental components in various everyday products and plastics.

ROLE OBJECTIVE & KEY DUTIES
As an integral member of the Maintenance team, the Area Maintenance Engineer (AME) is responsible for overseeing the efficient specification, planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities within their designated area, aligning with operational requirements and engineering standards, as well as SABIC's Manufacturing Excellence Management Standards (MEMS). This role entails significant regulatory compliance responsibilities critical to the safe and effective operation of the assets in the area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement engineering standards and policies primarily within the Olefins 6 plant area, ensuring adherence to MEMS.06.04 Asset Maintenance work processes.
- Oversee the delivery of maintenance engineering requirements in accordance with business and regulatory demands.
- Manage the specification, planning, scheduling, and execution of all maintenance tasks to ensure cost-effective safety, integrity, reliability, and production assurance.
- Ensure regulatory and procedural compliance for the area.
- Administer the maintenance budget in alignment with the directives of the Olefins 6 Maintenance Manager.
- Assume various delegated responsibilities from the Olefins 6 Maintenance Manager due to the nature of the role.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ability to influence stakeholders across Operational and Technical Functions.
- Promote corporate values at both local and global levels.
- Serve as the custodian of engineering standards, both internationally and internally.
- Engage with external regulators to safeguard SABIC's legislative interests and operational licenses.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree or Equivalent in Science, Engineering, or Maintenance, with a comprehensive understanding of chemistry and petrochemical technology.
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status with a recognized Professional Engineering Institution.
- A minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in Petrochemicals within Engineering or Maintenance.
- Strong conceptual, communication, and analytical abilities.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Extensive knowledge of interrelated Business Units and Functions within the industry.
- Exceptional presentation and networking skills.
- Proficiency in IT and various integrated IT systems, including Microsoft Office and SAP (CMMS).
- Experience working in a multicultural and diverse environment, with the ability to influence and engage at senior management levels.
While all engineering disciplines will be considered, SABIC is particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Instrumentation engineering.
