Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Nurse to join our team as a Senior Clinical Nurse Leader. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of nurses and contribute to the delivery of high-quality person-centred care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership on a daily basis, ensuring that exceptional standards of care are adhered to at all times.
  • Assist in the effective assessment, admission, and discharge planning with the service users' care team.
  • Establish systems and processes to ensure effective communication and continuity of service user care, liaising with inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Empower and enable staff to contribute to the delivery of high-quality person-centred care.
  • Promote and facilitate a learning culture within the ward and a culture of reflective practice for all staff.
  • Establish highest care standards to meet or exceed current standards, as well as ensuring that risk management strategies are in place.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all staff recognise the potential for or signs of service user harm, abuse, and neglect, including poor clinical practice, report all such occurrences, and take all responsible steps to protect the service user.
  • Involve in staff recruitment and retention.
  • Support the induction of new staff and take on the role of mentor (where applicable) for students and newly qualified staff.
  • Promote the health and wellbeing of staff and note any signs of ill health or stress factors and take appropriate action in line with Brainkind policies.
  • Promote effective confidential communication with service users, relatives, families, carers, and colleagues (including external personnel), providing information and support to inform decision-making and advocate on the service user's behalf.
  • Adhere to organisational and NMC guidelines for practice requirements and standards, such as the safe handling, administration, storage of all medication.
  • To establish and maintain a high profile with service users, carers, and all staff.
  • To ensure that appropriate risk assessments are undertaken and that agreed action plans have been implemented.

Person Specification

  • RMN/RNLD/RGN
  • Two years' experience of working as a Staff Nurse within a Neurobehavioural setting.
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Clinical Governance
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the Mental Capacity Act
  • Knowledge of NMC standards
  • Ability and willingness to provide training to student nurses, preceptorship nurses, and the wider team
