About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Waste Consultant to join our team at AECOM. As a Graduate Waste Consultant, you will play a key role in supporting our nuclear industry clients with their waste management needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of waste inventories and the underpinning of assumptions used to derive waste estimates;
  • Conduct literature reviews for emerging radioactive waste technologies;
  • Undertake Best Available Techniques / Best Practical Means determinations;
  • Assess environmental aspects of nuclear projects;
  • Identify and review options for decommissioning and radioactive waste practices to optimize their management;
  • Prepare documentation in support of the above;
  • Develop an understanding of nuclear safety cases and supporting documentation;
  • Develop an understanding of nuclear site permits and licenses;
  • Liaise with project teams and design engineers to ensure effective collaboration.

Requirements
  • Science-based honors degree 2:1 (or equivalent) in a relevant field, such as chemical engineering or nuclear engineering;
  • Able to meet the requirements for security clearance in the UK;
  • Preferably a final year project or modules related to the nuclear industry, ideally associated with radioactive waste management or decommissioning practices;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Basic computer skills essential (Word/Excel);
  • Full UK driving license or equivalent that permits driving in the UK.
