Position Overview:

Torfaen County Borough Council is seeking a dedicated PROJECT OFFICER to oversee and implement various initiatives within the community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of all projects in collaboration with the Projects and Events Manager, ensuring adherence to established governance protocols and generating reports for the appropriate Committee(s).

This role also involves providing administrative support for all Council projects and events, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders to facilitate successful project delivery.

Additionally, the Project Officer will be required to attend meetings outside of regular hours and document minutes as necessary.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, organize, and execute all Council projects in partnership with the Projects and Events Manager, ensuring compliance with governance standards and producing relevant reports for Committees.
  • Assist the Projects and Events Manager with the administrative aspects of all Council projects and events.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders to enhance the delivery of Council projects and events.
  • Attend meetings outside of standard hours and take minutes when required.
  • Provide reception coverage as needed in the absence of the Admin Officer.
  • Support colleagues and undertake additional reasonable duties as assigned by the Clerk.
  • Contribute to the development and content management of the Council's website and social media platforms.
  • Ensure personal health and safety and promote compliance among colleagues to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist in the preparation and compilation of information for the Annual report.
  • Engage in training and attend relevant courses as deemed necessary.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, demonstrating a willingness to assist others and a commitment to achieving team objectives.
  • Relevant Health and Safety Level 2 certification (or a willingness to pursue this qualification).
  • Strong written English, numeracy, and IT skills.
  • Effective communication skills tailored to individual needs, whether in person, via phone, or in writing.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology efficiently.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize personal workload effectively.
  • Capability to work independently and take initiative.
