AI Safety Research and Innovation Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking to fill up to two positions as either a Research & Innovation Associate or a Research & Innovation Fellow focused on the assurance of AI-driven autonomous systems. These roles are part of the Centre for Assuring Autonomy (CfAA) at the University of York. You will have the opportunity to influence the secure integration of AI-based autonomous technologies across various sectors, making this an exciting opportunity for those interested in the assurance of ongoing integration and deployment of machine learning models.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research while collaborating with industry partners and regulatory bodies both domestically and internationally.
- Engage with a diverse team of professionals from various disciplines within the CfAA.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A first degree in computer science or a related field, along with a completed PhD focusing on AI or machine learning, preferably with an emphasis on continuous integration and deployment of ML models.
- Demonstrated experience in both independent and collaborative research efforts.
- A strong willingness and capability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in writing research findings for publication.
- For candidates applying for the Research and Innovation Fellow role, postdoctoral experience and the ability to lead small-scale research initiatives are essential.
