Product Design Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Product Design Engineer to lead our product development team. This role involves designing and developing industrial products, working closely with Marketing to ensure effective commercialization, and collaborating with Manufacturing to ensure a smooth transition from prototype to production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Create new product designs and re-design existing products, including detailed layouts, assemblies, and parts drawings. Ensure designs are cost-effective and meet commercial requirements.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Define and manage product testing procedures, work with Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure adherence to quality standards and ISO guidelines, and address any errors or issues.
  • Production Coordination: Oversee the product from initial design through to production, coordinating activities and managing new product introductions to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Research and Evaluation: Assess existing products for potential redesign based on feedback from customers, vendors, or internal teams. Explore new product opportunities and technologies through data analysis and benchmarking.
  • Documentation and Communication: Prepare clear and detailed technical reports and documentation. Communicate effectively with various departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment and resolve any issues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or similar). A Master's degree is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of experience in engineering industrial products.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with various departments and customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Autodesk, AutoCAD & Inventor.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks.
