About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Economic Growth Specialist to join our team at the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving the delivery of our strategic growth plans for the Agri-Tech, Food & Drink Technologies sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic view of Agri-Tech, Food & Drink Technologies growth potential across the Combined Authority.
  • Support the implementation and delivery of the recently commissioned Agri-Tech Strategy for the Region.
  • Identify and secure funding opportunities to support the delivery of Agri-Tech growth in the CPCA region.
  • Develop partnerships with key stakeholders and delivery organisations to support the delivery and implementation of the Combined Authority Agri-Tech sector Strategic Action Plan.
  • Develop strategic relationships with key central Government Departments to further the Combined Authority position as a leader in Agri-Tech.
  • Work with the Combined Authority's Skills Team to help them define priority skills / workforce sector needs.
  • Support the development of a Combined Authority Internationalisation plan across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and support the implementation and delivery of the Internationalisation plan as it relates to the Agri-Tech sector.
  • Support the development of a Combined Authority Innovation plan across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and support the implementation and delivery of the Innovation plan as it relates to the Agri-Tech sector.
  • Lead on the review of the current Agri-Tech Strategy & associated Action Plan to ensure it is fit for purpose, and produce a revised review that meets current and future requirements of the Combined Authority.
  • Provide a strategic policy view of the potential for growth of the Agri-Tech Sector within the Combined Authority area, identifying areas for growth and funding.
  • Analyse the current and future needs and issues of the sector to help prioritise the key projects and delivery of support programmes and interventions across the CPCA.
  • Work with the Mayor's Office & key central Government Departments to create opportunities for the Combined Authority to influence and bid for national funding opportunities.
  • Develop a key network/partnership across the Combined Authority area, and wider regional partners, of Agri-Tech organisations & businesses, supporting the development of business cases & joint working possibilities.
  • Support the International Trade and Investment Manager in managing Local Authority officer, Local Authority CEO, Combined Authority Leader relationships in relation to the Agri-Tech sector.
  • Work with the C&P Skills Team to identify and articulate priority talent/ skills needs across the sector.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in economic growth, sector development, and strategic planning.
  • Strong understanding of the Agri-Tech, Food & Drink Technologies sector and its growth potential.
  • Excellent communication and partnership development skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions.
