Job Title: Director Event Management

Job Summary:

The Director of Foundation Relations and Government Grants is a key member of the Advancement team, responsible for securing significant funding from foundations and government agencies to support the Barnes' core programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to secure $2-3 million annually from foundation and government sources.
  • Manage a portfolio of 30-40 foundation and government giving prospects, with a focus on growing unrestricted, temporarily restricted, and permanently restricted revenue.
  • Collaborate with program areas to identify and pursue new funding opportunities.
  • Supervise and lead a high-performing staff member, providing mentorship and training.
  • Represent the Advancement Department in partnering with other departments to deliver recognition and benefits for foundation and government funders.
  • Oversee the documentation of foundation and public agency giving activities within the Raiser's Edge database.
  • Interact with senior leadership and the Board of Trustees in solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in securing and increasing significant foundation and public agency fundraising, preferably in higher education or other cultural organizations.
  • Management experience and success in a sophisticated and complex fundraising environment.
  • Ability to travel around the region and the country, as needed.
