Role Summary

Our Blood Sciences division operates around the clock across multiple laboratories, and we have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Senior Biomedical Scientist to join our Chemistry team. This role is based at our Hub Laboratory and Essential Service Laboratory, where you will engage with cutting-edge Beckman Coulter automated systems. The department plays a crucial role in supporting testing for local healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Biomedical Scientist in the Chemistry team, you will:

  • Conduct and interpret routine and specialized testing, ensuring patient-centered scientific excellence while adhering to high-quality standards in line with ISO15189.
  • Supervise and mentor Biomedical Scientists, Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, and Medical Laboratory Assistants, sharing your expertise and passion for the field.
  • Maintain your professional registration and engage in continuous professional development (CPD), with support from SYNLAB to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

If you possess the following qualifications and skills, we would be pleased to hear from you:

  • HCPC registration with relevant post-registration experience in a busy Blood Sciences laboratory, specifically within a Chemistry department.
  • IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Chemistry.
  • Proficient knowledge and hands-on experience with automated Chemistry platforms.

We are also open to considering Band 5 applicants who are looking to complete a specialist portfolio, with automatic progression to Band 6 upon successful completion.
