For the past decade, the SPS team has played a crucial role in positively impacting healthcare in Somerset. We are excited to announce an excellent opportunity for a Band 4 Associate Practitioner to join our Histopathology team. This position is a 2-year fixed term contract, providing support to the leadership of Southwest Pathology Services at both Yeovil District Hospital and Musgrove Park Hospital. Our laboratory is accredited with ISO15189 UKAS and is recognised as a HCPC approved training facility.

**Hours**: 37.5hrs a week / shifts between 7am-8pm / Mon-Fri

**Responsibilities of the role**:

- Provide support for the day-to-day operation of the Histopathology team.
- Support the laboratories in the Send Away process for genetic testing referral.
- Provide supervision, training and professional leadership to junior staff which includes monitoring their performance against laboratory standards and their training plans.

**What we’re looking for**:

- Relevant NVQ Level 3 with applied theoretical knowledge, training to Level 4 diploma or equivalent desirable.
- Working knowledge of Biomedical techniques and practices.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills, along with the adaptability to change.
- Good developed interpersonal and team working abilities.
- Ability to analyse and technically interpret test results.
