Job Description

Frieze Publishing Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Night Operations Manager to join our team in Seoul. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of our art fairs and programming initiatives in Seoul.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exhibitor Team and Gallery Support Operations
    • Coordinate local shipping and logistics with exhibitors and shipping agencies, including customs and tax documentation.
    • Source and manage local and international shipping vendors, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of exhibition materials.
    • Research and recommend Korean-based gallery-facing payment and art storage options.
    • Develop and implement strategies for VAT and customs policies to support exhibitor shipping needs.
    • Facilitate visa support documentation for galleries and research visa waiver options.
  • Fair Program and Events Operations
    • Assist with logistical and operational elements of Frieze Film programming, including site evaluations, equipment sourcing, and installation oversight.
    • Support City Wide Art Nights logistics, including event coordination and communication with stakeholders.
    • Manage ticketing policy, operations, and logistics, ensuring seamless communication between Frieze teams and external partners.
    • Coordinate sourcing, logistics, customs, tax, and shipping for Frieze Seoul merchandise, including limited edition art prints and objects.
    • Collaborate with the Marketing team on logistics related to city-wide branding assets, including Seoul city government assets and partner assets.
  • KIAF / Galleries Association and COEX Liaison
    • Develop and maintain relationships with COEX and Kiaf, ensuring effective communication and collaboration on non-production components of the fair.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Research and improve city-wide transportation options, collaborating with taxi companies, private drivers, and ride-hailing services.
    • Conduct research and provide support on local Korean issues and policies related to tax, finance, and legal matters.
  • Local Korean Vendor Liaison and Sourcing
    • Communicate with local stakeholders involved in Frieze programming and events, proposing and negotiating new contracts and freelancers.
  • Ad Hoc Responsibilities
    • Support the Frieze 91/VIP/Partnership team on an ad-hoc basis for events and special projects.
    • Develop and maintain excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Korean, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of Korean business practices, regulations, and cultural norms is preferred.
    • Proficiency in Outlook and the Microsoft Office suite is required.
    • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required.

Please note that this role is for an initial 1-year contract, with the possibility of extension depending on business needs.
