Database Systems Administrator

**Database Administrator Role**
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team at Interface Recruitment UK. As a key member of our technology department, you will be responsible for the administration, support, and strategic guidance of our MySQL databases.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of experience in a similar role and be comfortable working on both project and operational tasks to support the business.
Key Responsibilities:- Database Design and Development: Review and suggest DDL for new features in line with SQL coding standards and best database performance for the development team.
- Database Advisory Services: Advise development teams on possible implementations for new features at the planning stage.
- Database Configuration and Access Management: Configure database credentials in dev, staging, and production platforms for applications and provide database credentials to the devops team.
- Data Access and Security: Configure developer and Data Analyst access to the data warehouse and production environment for production reports.
- GDPR Compliance: Track Data Analyst requests for GDPR sensitive data, seeking authorisation where necessary.
- Database Maintenance and Upgrades: Follow a continuous improvement goal to keep all database systems as up to date as possible through researching changes in new versions, testing new versions with the development team, and proposing/actioning live upgrade plans.
- Database Administration Certification: Ideally Oracle Certified Professional OCP (MySQL 5.7 Database Administrator) or equivalent.
- Query Optimization: Ability to optimise and suggest alternatives to MySQL queries (data, table, and index assessment, explain plan, knowledge of covering indexes, hash indexes, derived tables, factors affecting temporary table requirements, query hints, index hints).
- Scripting and Automation: Maintenance of supporting scripts for data feeds (Perl) and in-house scripting (Perl) for database monitoring (reporting to Zabbix/CheckMK) and binary log housekeeping.
- Business Intelligence and Reporting: Experience of working with Business Intelligence Platforms such as PowerBI and Business Objects.
- Financial Reporting and Reconciliation: Experience of supporting Financial Reporting and Reconciliation activity.
- Data Protection and Compliance: Good understanding of GDPR and other data protection regulations.
