Database Administrator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team at Interface Recruitment UK. As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for the administration, support, and strategic guidance of our MySQL databases for an enterprise-grade, online platform.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Review and suggest DDL for new features in line with SQL coding standards and best database performance for the development team.
  2. Advise development teams on possible implementations for new features at the planning stage.
  3. Configure database credentials in dev, staging, and production platforms for applications and provide database credentials to the devops team.
  4. Configure developer and Data Analyst access to the data warehouse and production environment for production reports.
  5. Track Data Analyst requests for GDPR sensitive data, seeking authorisation where necessary.
  6. Follow a continuous improvement goal to keep all database systems up to date through researching changes in new versions, testing new versions with the development team, and proposing/actioning live upgrade plans.
Requirements:
  1. Ideal Oracle Certified Professional OCP (MySQL 5.7 Database Administrator) or equivalent.
  2. Ability to optimise and suggest alternatives to MySQL queries.
Desirable Skills:
  1. Maintenance of supporting scripts for data feeds (Perl).
  2. Maintenance of in-house scripting (Perl) for database monitoring and binary log housekeeping.
  3. Experience of working with Business Intelligence Platforms such as PowerBI and Business Objects.
  4. Experience of supporting Financial Reporting and Reconciliation activity.
  5. Good understanding of GDPR and other data protection regulations.
