Position Overview

ENT Specialist Consultant - Focus on Benign Head and Neck

The ENT Division at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an experienced ENT Specialist Consultant to enhance our growing team. This role will involve collaboration across multiple healthcare facilities, ensuring comprehensive care delivery.

We are looking for a dedicated professional who can contribute to the advancement of our innovative and supportive department. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Benign Head & Neck ENT and demonstrate a broad skill set. There is also an opportunity to engage in educational roles with medical students, and a higher qualification in medical education would be beneficial.

Main Responsibilities

  • Uphold the highest standards of clinical practice in ENT management.
  • Actively engage in departmental and organizational initiatives related to Clinical Governance and Education.
  • Collaborate with the team to address ENT challenges within the patient population.
  • Ensure ongoing participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Participate in the emergency on-call rota, providing consultant-level support alongside junior medical staff.
  • Attend Clinical Governance and Audit meetings.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills necessary for the consultant role.
  • Proven surgical and clinical competencies in ENT surgery.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in English.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring medical trainees.
  • Involvement in clinical audit processes.

Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Comprehensive experience in managing both elective and emergency ENT cases.
  • Completion of specialist training or equivalent qualifications.
  • Ability to make informed decisions at the consultant level.
  • Evidence of participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) activities.

Education and Credentials

Essential

  • Full registration with the GMC.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register through CCT or CESR.
  • Relevant higher ENT surgical qualifications.
  • Subspecialty training in benign head and neck conditions.
  • Interest in multidisciplinary collaboration.
