About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Homicide Family Support Specialist to join our team at Victim Support. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional support to families bereaved by and witness to homicide, delivering a tailored package of support to service users and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma-informed advocacy and support to service users, prioritizing their needs and well-being.
  • Work closely with Police Major Crime teams, providing briefings on the work we do in the Homicide Service.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including police, social services, and other agencies.
  • Manage a diverse and demanding caseload, ensuring timely and effective support to service users.
  • Travel to home visits within and occasionally outside of the area, utilizing a car and driving license.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of the impact of crime on victims and their families.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with service users and stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of delivering services in a statutory, voluntary, or multi-agency setting.
  • Ability to balance competing needs and priorities, with a focus on delivering high-quality support to service users.
  • Full driving license and access to a car, with a willingness to travel to home visits and attend police briefings.
