Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our clinical team at Wellside Surgery. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality phlebotomy services to our patients.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform venepuncture to collect blood samples from patients with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Accurately label specimens for transfer to the laboratory, ensuring timely and reliable results.
- Maintain complete and accurate patient records and results books, adhering to strict confidentiality and data protection protocols.
- Prepare specimens for collection, adhering to strict quality control measures.
- Dip urine samples and report results to our GPs, providing valuable insights into patient health.
- Perform ECGs and report results to our GPs, contributing to informed decision-making.
- Adhere to all infection prevention and control procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for patients and staff.
- Provide chaperone services as required, prioritizing patient comfort and dignity.
- Involvement in research studies as required, contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge.
- Assist with stock ordering, ensuring that all necessary supplies are readily available.
- Assist with maintaining a clean and tidy prep room, adhering to strict hygiene standards.
- Assist in collection and appropriate disposal of clinical waste, minimizing environmental impact.

Essential Skills and Attributes
- IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

- Use of EMIS clinical system, with experience in a similar healthcare setting.

- Good standard of general education, with a recognized phlebotomy qualification.

- Phlebotomy experience, with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.

- Previous general practice experience, with a strong understanding of primary care settings.
