Your Role in Underwriting

The underwriting teams at AIG are dedicated to identifying insurance solutions across various sectors, including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. We are rethinking our approach to risk management, evolving our operational model, and redefining role responsibilities and career paths. Your Impact

  • Conduct comprehensive legal, financial, and commercial risk assessments for M&A transactions, providing tailored insurance solutions that align with client objectives.
  • Focus on underwriting corporate transaction deals of varying sizes and sectors, performing in-depth warranty and indemnity evaluations, developing new business opportunities, and nurturing relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Collaborate with the M&A team to underwrite corporate transaction risks, ensuring timely delivery of customized transaction insurance documents. Support management in executing strategies to expand the business portfolio.
  • Engage in external client meetings and legal seminars to foster relationships and propose innovative transaction insurance products.

Qualifications for Success

  • Preferred qualifications include being a UK (or Commonwealth) qualified lawyer or possessing relevant M&A transactional experience in fields such as tax or accounting.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in negotiating and managing M&A transactions.
  • Exceptional legal, technical, and business development skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities; adept at drafting legal and commercial documents.
  • Capability to negotiate with sophisticated advisors and clients.
  • Highly motivated, innovative thinker with a collaborative spirit.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with the local financial lines team.
  • Proficient in understanding and executing commercial decisions within the framework of legal risk assessment.
