Senior Finance Assistant
We are seeking a knowledgeable Senior Finance Assistant to become a vital part of the finance department within a prominent retail organization. This role will report directly to the Overheads Manager and will play a key role in managing various cost centres, ensuring that all expenditures are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner.
The daily tasks will encompass the examination of sensitive nominal codes, identification of capital expenditures, prepayments, and accruals. You will be responsible for ensuring that invoices are approved and recorded promptly. Additionally, you will maintain the Fixed Asset Register and post journals for new acquisitions and depreciation. Analyzing costs against budgetary allocations and reporting significant variances to the Finance Manager will also be essential. You will assist in the budgeting and reforecasting processes as needed.
This is a full-time position that offers a hybrid working model, requiring a minimum of four days in the office each week. Flexible working arrangements may be available to employees in certain situations, ensuring fairness and consistency while meeting the essential needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a selection of cost centres and balance sheet codes Record and substantiate monthly accruals, prepayments, and other necessary journals Assist with compliance regarding the Construction Industry Scheme reporting Review sensitive nominal codes related to capital expenditures Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and associated journals Prepare and record weekly/monthly expenses and credit card transactions Analyze costs in relation to budgets and communicate significant variances Support the budgeting and reforecasting effortsSkills & Qualifications
Financial qualification (AAT or equivalent) is preferred Strong communication and analytical abilities High degree of accuracy and organizational skills Proficient in IT with intermediate to advanced Excel capabilities Experience in team management is desirableBenefits
