Service Charge Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Service Charge Accountant to join our team at Nouvo Recruitment London. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of service charge accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Service Charge Expenditure Review: Conduct a thorough review of service charge expenditure, identifying and correcting posting errors, and completing journal transfers, accruals, and prepayments as required.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the general ledger and complete reconciliations coinciding with the year-end for the service charge function, ensuring all imbalances are identified and corrected.
  • Accounting Support: Work closely with managers to ensure that accounts are completed with a high degree of accuracy in line with the account's deadlines.
  • Service Charge Apportionment: Produce balancing schedules to apportion service charge expenditure on the correct basis, taking into account income billed on account, occupancy changes during the period, and tenant caps.
  • Variance Analysis: Complete variance analysis and produce final reports.
  • Agent Information Reconciliation: Complete reconciliation of prior agent information following new purchases, ensuring this is dealt with in line with the sales contract.
  • Service Charge Closure: Complete the closure of the final service charge reconciliation following sales, ensuring this is completed in line with the sales contract, and provide the closing accounts to the purchaser, resolving any queries and clearing all ledger balances.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a key liaison with internal stakeholders on service charge matters, resolving tenant and client queries arising following the completion of the service charge accounts.
Requirements:
  • Property Accounts Experience: Experience working within Property Accounts and knowledge of service charges.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organizational Skills: Well-organized with good initiative, ability to manage own time is essential to meet KPI deadlines.
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literate, specifically with Excel and Word.
  • Attention to Detail: Good attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Professional Manner: Professional manner, ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Ability to Work Under Pressure: Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Qube and Propman: Knowledge of Qube and Propman.
