Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Education to lead our education, skills, and work provision at HMP Kirkham. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality education and skills training to prisoners, aligned with regional, national, and Ofsted standards and frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a coherent approach to education, skills, and work provision, ensuring sequencing of activities is purposeful and directed towards maximising prisoners' opportunities to access employment, education, and training on release.
  • Work with education providers, prison industries, and local private enterprise to make the most appropriate use of workshops and all other prisoner places of work, providing prisoners with the learning and skills required to compete for and achieve employment within the local labour market.
  • Contribute to and implement the Senior Management Team's objectives as defined in the establishment's Business plan.
  • Manage and develop a team of education professionals to deliver high-quality education and skills training.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

Significant management experience in a similar role.Excellent leadership and communication skills.Ability to understand the complexities of contract management.Strong knowledge of education and skills training provision.
