About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Recovery Navigator to join our team at The Forward Trust. As a Recovery Navigator, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals with complex needs, including substance misuse and mental health issues, to achieve positive change and reduce reoffending.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry a diverse caseload of adult male prison leavers and those on community orders, providing support and guidance to implement their action plan and navigate their recovery journey.
  • Deliver comprehensive assessments, create collaborative action plans, and provide structured one-to-one and group work sessions, while maintaining accurate record keeping.
  • Work across a cluster of community delivery sites, covering Bexley, Lewisham, and Orpington Probation Offices.
  • Provide support and guidance to individuals with substance use disorders, mental illnesses, and other complex needs, enhancing access to treatment and promoting sustained engagement with statutory and existing provision.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partner agencies and probation staff to ensure effective co-operative working and delivery of outcomes.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of the criminal justice sector, with a strong understanding of substance misuse and related services.
  • Excellent experience of managing high caseloads, carrying out risk assessments, and creating SMART action plans.
  • Proven ability to deliver both one-to-one and group work interventions using motivational techniques and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience of working with treatment and healthcare services, with a strong understanding of the principles of equal opportunity and GDPR requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a sensitive, supportive, and professional manner.
  • Level 3 substance misuse-related qualification or working knowledge of substance misuse services.
