Job Description

Job Summary

TLP Consultancy is seeking a highly experienced Data Protection and Compliance Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Legal and Governance department, you will be responsible for ensuring our compliance with data protection regulations and managing our Data Privacy team.

Main Responsibilities and Key Objectives:

  • Deliver Operational Performance:
    • Support data protection compliance reviews and oversee remediation activities to ensure our organization's data protection policies and procedures are up-to-date and effective.
    • Support the maintenance of supplier privacy due diligence and contractual safeguards to ensure our third-party vendors are compliant with data protection regulations.
    • Support business activities that require privacy review and act as a point of escalation for all internal escalations related to data protection.
    • Project manage team initiatives to drive compliance both internally and across our network of retailers.
    • Responsible for timely processing of data subject rights requests and complaints to ensure our organization's reputation and financial stability are protected.
    • Maintain corporate RoPA (Record of Processing Activities) to ensure transparency and accountability in our data processing activities.
  • Embed Compliance:
    • Maintain and enhance privacy compliance and understanding across our organization to ensure a culture of compliance.
    • Support periodic review of applicable data protection policies in light of changes in laws, regulatory or organizational policy to ensure our policies remain effective and relevant.
    • Support the conduct of data protection impact assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks to our organization's data protection.
    • Review and maintain data processing records (Article 30) to ensure transparency and accountability in our data processing activities.
  • Drive Brand Perception and Delight Our Clients and Their Customers:
    • Be an ambassador for our organization and promote a culture of compliance and data protection.
    • Be aware of and minimize the reputational and financial risks of non-compliance and data incidents to protect our organization's reputation and financial stability.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

Essential:

  • At least 5 years' experience (or equivalent) in a privacy, data protection role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, able to communicate effectively with people at all levels both inside and outside of the company, tailoring messaging to audience.
  • Experienced in using OneTrust privacy-related platform/modules.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Good time management and organization.
  • Capable of working independently, but within a team structure.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders.
  • Self-starter, confidence to independently seek resolutions to issues when appropriate.

Desirable:

  • Privacy certification preferred (e.g. BCS Practitioner or CIPP/E).
