About the Role
As an Assistant Kitchen Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring the consistent preparation of high-quality, nutritious meals for residents and their families.
- Collaborating with the Life Enrichment team to implement engaging activities that enhance the residents' daily experiences.
- Taking charge of kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef, maintaining established standards of excellence.
- Ensuring all meals are prepared and presented according to KYN's exceptional quality benchmarks.
- Upholding cleanliness and best practices in the kitchen at all times.
- Driving consistency in our culinary offerings and ensuring adherence to menu specifications.
- Demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail to facilitate seamless service delivery.
- Guiding the kitchen team to adhere to service standards in all tasks.
- Monitoring health and safety compliance within the kitchen and dining areas.
- Educating team members about menu items and ingredients to effectively communicate with residents and their families.
- Striving to exceed expectations in every aspect of the role.
- Building meaningful relationships with residents to better understand their individual needs.
- Managing kitchen inventory and stock levels in the absence of the Head Chef.
- Conducting regular audits to ensure ingredient availability and quality.
- Addressing any discrepancies in stock and implementing preventative measures.
- Ensuring proper storage and rotation of stock in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Purchasing stock in accordance with KYN's procurement policies.
- Minimizing waste through effective stock management and portion control.
- Understanding departmental financial targets, including sales and gross profits.
- Controlling payroll costs by effectively managing labor resources.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of health and food safety standards.
- Coaching team members on food safety management practices.
- Assisting the Head Chef in conducting audits and addressing any identified issues promptly.
- Ensuring the kitchen team is trained on cleaning protocols and standards.
- Supporting the Head Chef in maintaining up-to-date risk assessments and standard operating procedures.
- Safeguarding residents' dietary information and ensuring confidentiality.
- Fostering a strong team environment that aligns with KYN's mission and values.
- Leading by example and serving as a role model for the kitchen staff.
- Actively participating in the training and development of team members.
- Building relationships with key stakeholders to enhance kitchen operations.
- Creating a positive team atmosphere that promotes morale and commitment.
