About the Role

Bolton Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Health Strategic Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Public Health senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in protecting and improving the health and well-being of the communities in Bolton.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in public health, with a post-graduate level qualification and a minimum of 5 years' experience at a senior level within a complex and/or public sector environment. You will be able to use your communication skills to negotiate with, and influence others at all levels, and design, develop, interpret and influence policy and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic system leadership for population health care and prevention, working across a wide range of statutory and non-statutory agencies, and community and voluntary organisations in the development of effective partnerships.
  • Strong leadership in the development and implementation of public health strategies and policies, to protect and improve health and life expectancy and to reduce inequalities across Bolton.
  • Development of evidence-based health and care services, including commissioning of public health programmes and delivery, and action on the wider determinants of health.
