Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Outreach Worker to join our team at Two Saints. As a Community Outreach Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are experiencing homelessness, helping them to access support and accommodation in Wokingham.
About the Role:
As a Community Outreach Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Managing a caseload of clients and working with them on a one-to-one basis to identify their needs and develop a client needs assessment and risk management plan.
- Mediating and negotiating with existing housing providers to prevent homelessness and secure accommodation for clients.
- Providing advice and support to clients on housing, welfare benefits, rent deposits, and household goods, as well as helping them to access education, employment, and training opportunities.
- Carrying out drop-in surgeries at designated locations and liaising with colleges, training agencies, and employers to help clients gain access to education and employment.
- Participating in bi-monthly night street counts to identify individuals who are sleeping rough and provide them with support and guidance.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Clear verbal and written English skills.
- Good IT and keyboard skills.
- A polite, assertive manner and the ability to self-motivate.
- A passion for working in a client-facing role and a genuine concern for homelessness and related issues.
- Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation.
- A driver's license and access to your own transport.
