As a Lead Engineer in the Product Care Department at GE Aviation, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of HVDC Control Systems. This is a dynamic and exciting field of control engineering where GE's leading contribution has worldwide recognition.
Key Responsibilities:- Overall Requirements and Design: Responsible for defining, implementing, and testing HVDC Control and Protection application software.
- Expert Team Collaboration: Work with a team of experts to develop design and development skills relevant to control and protection systems, particularly power electronics systems and grid technology.
- Analysis and Integration: Execute analysis, simulation, test, and integration to define and support assigned components, modules, or systems that meet business standards.
- Problem-Solving and Coaching: Apply prior experience and on-the-job training to solve problems, coach and mentor team members, and lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
- Performance Management and Continuous Improvement: Develop skills within the team, manage performance, and lead active participation in continuous improvement activities.
- Operational Planning and Execution: Responsible for operational planning and execution within a technical discipline.
- Engineering Degree: Engineering degree in Computer Science or power systems and power electronics subjects or proven equivalent knowledge and experience in HVDC business.
- Design and Development: Lead design and development of event and rate-driven application software for control and protection systems.
- Power Systems Knowledge: Competent on functional characteristics of power systems and interactions between AC and HVDC systems.
- Simulation Tools: Knowledge of PSCAD and competent using MATLAB-SIMULINK simulation tools.
- Agile Software Development: Promote Agile Software development practices within the team.
- Version Control and Documentation: Lead team members on Git, Jira, and Confluence for version control, task/defect management, and documentation.
- Communication Skills: Strong written/verbal communication skills and a can-do attitude.
- Process Improvement or RCA Experience: Process improvement or RCA experience or certification.
- HVDC Industry Experience: Experience working in the HVDC industry.
- HVDC Control and Protection Strategy: Knowledge of HVDC Control, Protection, and Sequencing strategy.
