Lead Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer to join our dynamic team of engineers working on the design, development, and maintenance of control and protection system application software for LCC and VSC HVDC schemes. As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for overall requirements, design, implementation, and testing of HVDC Control and Protection application software.
The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated, dynamic, and growing team of engineers working on the design of HVDC Control Systems. This is a very exciting and dynamic field of control engineering in which GE's leading contribution has worldwide recognition.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, development, and testing of HVDC Control and Protection application software.
- Work as part of an expert team, giving ample opportunity for learning design and development skills highly relevant for working with any control and protection system.
- Execute analysis, simulation, test, and integration required to define and support assigned components, modules, or systems that meet business standards.
- Apply prior experience and on-the-job training to solve problems.
- Propose solutions utilizing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline, analytical thinking, and technical experience in solving problems.
- Coach and mentor team members with less experience, lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
- Develop skills within the team and manage performance.
- Lead and active participation in continuous improvement activities.
- Responsible for operational planning and execution within a technical discipline.
- Engineering degree in Computer Science or power systems and power electronics subjects or proven equivalent knowledge and experience in HVDC business.
- Lead design and development of event and rate-driven application software for control and protection systems.
- Competent on functional characteristics of power systems and interactions between AC and HVDC systems.
- Knowledge of PSCAD and competent using MATLAB-SIMULINK simulation tools.
- Promote Agile Software development practices within the team.
- Lead team members on Git, Jira, and Confluence for version control, task/defect management, and documentation.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills and a can-do attitude.
- Process improvement or RCA experience or certification.
- Experience working in HVDC industry.
- Knowledge of HVDC Control, Protection, and Sequencing strategy.
