Position Overview:
The Manager of Research and Innovation will be instrumental in the strategic advancement of research and innovation initiatives within the Trust, aligning with the overarching Clinical and Organisational Strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will oversee and enhance a robust Research and Innovation function and team, ensuring evidence-based decision-making on strategic matters while assessing health and care research and innovation projects.
The individual must exhibit operational proficiency in managing personnel across various seniority levels.
As a member of the senior leadership team in Research and Innovation, the Manager will collaborate closely with both commercial and non-commercial stakeholders, as well as internal clinical and corporate leaders, to ensure the successful delivery of objectives and services.
In this role, the Manager will:
- Ensure the provision of exemplary Research and Innovation services throughout the Trust.
- Effectively manage staff, oversee financial and contractual obligations, and drive sustainable efficiency improvements, including the establishment and monitoring of budgets for Research and Innovation and individual projects.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of risk and quality management within an NHS context, necessitating the analysis and comparison of various options and outcomes.
- Hold operational management responsibilities for the Grounded Research Delivery team while relying on the expertise of Clinicians and Clinical Academics for professional guidance.
- Be accountable for the ongoing development and execution of the Grounded Research portfolio.
- Assume specific delegated responsibilities for monitoring and achieving key quality and performance benchmarks as outlined in the Research and Innovation Delivery Plan, coordinating the annual business and strategic planning process for Grounded Research, and implementing approved business cases.
- Facilitate engagement and communication regarding complex, sensitive, or contentious matters among commercial, academic, NHS, and community partners, as well as key stakeholders within the Trust.
