Lead Clinical Research Consultant

Position Overview
The primary objective of this role is to enhance the clinical and research initiatives at the National Prion Clinic and the associated MRC Prion Unit at UCL Programme. This includes evaluating intricate cases of patients suspected of having prion diseases, overseeing clinical research fellows, and collaborating with consultant peers nationwide and at the National CJD Research and Surveillance Unit. The successful candidate will spearhead specific projects in coordination with esteemed Professors and researchers.
This position is initially for a duration of 12 months, with the potential for extension contingent upon the acquisition of additional funding for ongoing research efforts.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a consultant neurologist or currently in a training position, anticipated to achieve CCT within a year.
A specialized focus on clinical and research dimensions of cognitive and/or palliative neurology, or a dedicated interest in prion diseases is essential.
This role necessitates travel across the country to assess selected and often particularly complex cases, alongside supervising Clinical Research Fellows who will typically manage more routine cases suspected of prion diseases.
As a senior member of the National Prion Clinic and Institute of Prion Diseases, you will hold a leadership position and engage in management activities. Furthermore, you will be expected to contribute to research initiatives and cultivate your own research interests, formulating research questions, designing projects, securing funding, overseeing project execution, and presenting findings to peers and stakeholders.
Strengthening partnerships with patient organizations, colleagues at NCJDRSU, and the relevant medical, scientific, and local community is also a key responsibility.
