Job Summary:

Guidant Global is seeking a highly skilled Satellite AIT Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the preparation and execution of test procedures and test sequences for satellite systems and instrument testing during ambient and environmental test campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Test Procedure Development: Design and develop test procedures and test sequences for satellite systems and instrument testing, ensuring compliance with relevant test specifications and standards.
  2. Test Execution and Debugging: Execute test procedures and test sequences, and debug any issues that arise during testing.
  3. Test Reporting and Review: Write and submit test reports, and participate in test reviews and non-conformance reviews.
  4. Electrical and Functional Testing: Design and perform electrical and functional tests on satellite subsystems, including power, communications, data handling, attitude and orbit control, and fault detection, isolation, and recovery.
  5. Integration and Verification: Write and execute electrical integration procedures to verify and connect equipment during spacecraft build.
  6. Test Planning and Coordination: Provide technical inputs to project test reviews, and support spacecraft systems functional and performance tests during environmental testing.
  7. Quality and Security: Work to company and departmental procedures, including quality and security protocols.
  8. Technical Expertise: Utilize Digital Design and Manufacturing Systems (DDMS) to prepare and execute work instructions to support testing.

Requirements:

  1. Education and Experience: Minimum of a degree in an Electrical Engineering related discipline or relevant experience in a similar role >5 years.
  2. Test Sequence Writing and Debugging: Current hands-on experience of writing test sequences/scripts for execution of spacecraft tests from the Central Checkout System (CCS).
  3. Programming and Scripting: Test sequence writing and debugging in a bespoke language (C and Java knowledge would be an advantage).
  4. Test Equipment and Systems: Competent in the use of various test equipment used for electrical measurements, e.g. DMM, oscilloscope, current probes, Data acquisition unit, data bus monitors (1553 MilBus probes/analysers) would be an advantage.
  5. Spacecraft Systems and Subsystems: Knowledge of the operation of a variety of spacecraft subsystems and overall system (power, comms, data handling, AOCS, system control and FDIR).
  6. Spacecraft Systems and Subsystems Testing: Knowledge and experience of spacecraft systems and subsystem testing is essential, e.g. Data Handling, Packet Utilisation Standard, Data Bus Communications - 1553, SpaceWire, CAN bus, Power systems, FDIR.
  7. TMTC Databases: Working knowledge of Satellite TMTC Databases.
  8. Operating Systems: Familiar with the Windows and Linux operating systems.
  9. Travel and Shift Work: Willing to support shifts and travel on test campaigns essential.

Desirable Skills:

  1. Programming and Scripting Languages: Programming and scripting languages, particularly writing, and debugging Linux/Unix bash scripts is an advantage.
  2. Programming Languages: Knowledge of a programming language such as C, Java, python, TCL, VBA would be useful but not essential.
  3. Spacecraft Electrical and Harness Knowledge: Spacecraft electrical and harness knowledge would be an advantage but not essential.
