The Children's Health Youth Justice Team delivers a comprehensive Speech and Language Therapy Service, alongside physical and mental health support, adhering to professional standards for children and young individuals (CYP) facing communication, physical, and mental health challenges while engaging with the Youth Offending Service (YOS). Our service caters to CYP with learning disabilities and/or complex needs, providing support in various settings including homes, YOS offices, community clinics, educational institutions, and specialized programs. We offer a broad spectrum of clinical evaluations and interventions tailored to young individuals navigating the youth justice system, guided by specialized care pathways that ensure direct assistance to CYP, their families, educational staff, health and social care professionals, and YOS colleagues. As a countywide team, the successful candidate will need to exhibit flexibility and be prepared for independent travel, thus a valid driver's license and Business Insurance for their vehicle are essential.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide a Speech and Language Therapy Service to children and young people aged 10-18 years who experience communication challenges and are associated with the Youth Offending Service. Responsibilities include managing a diverse caseload independently with regular formal supervision. Collaboration with parents, caregivers, YOS staff, educators, and other health professionals is crucial to ensure favorable outcomes for children and young people.
The role involves conducting specialized assessments, diagnoses, and developing management plans for Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) and related language learning and communication difficulties. The post holder will be an integral member of the Health Youth Justice Team, possessing knowledge and experience in assessing and working with children and young people with additional complex needs that may affect their language development, including physical needs, Social Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and neurodiversity.

Qualifications Required
