Position Summary

The Samsung Research UK team is seeking a skilled Graphics Engineer to contribute to the development of cutting-edge graphics and rendering algorithms for various technologies, including AR and MR. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to design and implement innovative solutions, collaborate with colleagues, and advance your expertise in advanced rendering and animation techniques.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize state-of-the-art graphics and rendering algorithms for frameworks on desktop and mobile devices, including AR and MR.
  • Propose and implement new technology ideas, including traditional and machine learning approaches, to overcome technical challenges and enhance user experience.
  • Create new solutions for outstanding products and services, leveraging expertise in computer graphics, 3D maths, and linear algebra.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Strong background in computer science, electronics, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Expertise in computer graphics using APIs such as OpenGL, OpenGL ES, Vulkan, or DirectX.
  • Proficiency in 3D maths and linear algebra, with experience in mesh manipulation algorithms.
  • Knowledge of advanced rendering techniques, including global illumination, physically based rendering, soft shadows, image-based lighting, and high dynamic range rendering.
  • Experience with shading languages like GLSL, HLSL, CG, and software development using C++, Python, C#, and Java.
  • Ability to document software designs and present complex algorithms and technical details.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of machine learning libraries like TensorFlow, Caffe, and PyTorch.
  • Experience developing and prototyping with Unity or Unreal render engine.
  • Experience with Android application development and augmented reality frameworks like AR-Core and AR-Kit.
  • Proficiency in modeling tools like Blender, Maya, and 3D Max, and animation techniques like skeletal animation, blend-shapes, and inverse kinematics.

Contract Type: 6 month contract (inside IR35)

Location: Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey, UK

Hybrid Policy: 3 days a week onsite and 2 days working from home if preferred
