Position Summary

The Samsung Research UK AI team is seeking a skilled Graphics Engineer to contribute to the development of cutting-edge graphics and rendering algorithms for various technologies. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to design and implement innovative solutions, collaborate with colleagues, and advance your expertise in Advanced Rendering and Animation techniques for Augmented and Mixed Reality (AR/MR) applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize state-of-the-art graphics and rendering algorithms for frameworks on desktop and mobile devices, including AR and MR.
  • Propose and implement new technology ideas, including traditional and machine learning approaches, to overcome technical challenges and enhance user experience.
  • Create new solutions for the next wave of outstanding products and services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field (equivalent industry experience may be accepted).
  • Expertise in Computer Graphics using APIs such as OpenGL, OpenGL ES, Vulkan, or DirectX.
  • Strong 3D math and linear algebra skills.
  • Mastery of mesh manipulation algorithms, including Constructive Solid Geometry.
  • Knowledge of advanced rendering techniques, such as Global Illumination, Physically Based Rendering (PBS/PBR), Soft Shadows, Image-based Lighting, and High Dynamic Range (HDR) rendering.
  • Experience with Shading languages like GLSL, HLSL, CG, and others.
  • Proficiency in Software Development, primarily using C++, Python, C#, and Java.
  • Experience with Testing and Debugging tools and Performance profiling.
  • Ability to document software designs and present complex algorithms and technical details.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, result-oriented attitude, and problem-solving proficiency.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of Machine Learning libraries like TensorFlow, Caffe, and PyTorch.
  • Experience developing and prototyping with Unity or Unreal render engine.
  • Experience with Android application development.
  • Experience with Augmented Reality frameworks like AR-Core and AR-Kit.
  • Experience with modeling tools like Blender, Maya, and 3D Max.
  • Experience with Animation techniques like skeletal animation, Blend-shapes, and Inverse Kinematics.

Contract Type: 6-month contract (inside IR35)

Location: Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey, UK

Hybrid Policy: 3 days a week onsite and 2 days working from home if preferred
