About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Hestia Charity. As a key member of our Modern Slavery Response Team, you will play a vital role in providing expert support and guidance to advocates working with service users experiencing mental health crisis or complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advice and solutions to advocates working with service users in crisis, ensuring they have access to emergency support and deliver impactful interventions.
  • Coach and mentor advocates in crisis management, liaising with crisis teams and other Mental Health acute services.
  • Attend multi-agency meetings to support service users and act as a key point of contact for the service.
  • Work with advocates and managers to design tailored intervention programs for service users with complex needs.
  • Support advocates to identify service user needs and mitigate risk, including outreach visits in the community.
  • Hold clinics during office hours to advise on complex cases.
  • Collaborate with Managers and teams to identify gaps and deliver bespoke training on complex needs.
  • Lead and mentor the MSRS team on embedding person-centered practices and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Stay up-to-date with legislation and upskill the team in related areas.
  • Provide specialist knowledge to advocates on complex cases and share best practice.
Requirements
  • Practical knowledge of mental health conditions, crisis management, and communication with individuals with dignity and respect.
  • Understanding of relevant Mental Health legislation and safeguarding practices.
  • Knowledge of recovery approaches and principles.
  • Experience in staff coaching, training, and supporting vulnerable people.
  • Non-judgmental approach to working with people with complex needs.
  • Solution-focused and proactive in achieving high-quality client work and results.
  • Excellent IT skills, including MS Word, Outlook, and the internet.
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills, with clear written correspondence.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with empathy and a genuine approach.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a can-do attitude.
