About the Role

NHS Lothian is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Youth Worker to join our team in supporting young people accessing abortion care at our Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Health Service (LSRHS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide SHBBV education, testing, or treatment to young people attending the Choices Abortion Services
  • Deliver health promotion around contraception and empower young people to tackle barriers to accessing services
  • Work in our HR+ Service, which includes Genitourinary Medicine, HIV, and Contraception
  • Participate in Outreach activities, working in local communities to provide health services
Requirements
  • Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, or Community Education
  • Experience working with the general public and delivering health promotion and interventions
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Non-judgmental and friendly approach, with a person-centered attitude
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience working with young people and delivering health promotion activities and interventions
  • Experience using Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques to promote behavior change
Working Arrangements

This is a part-time position (18 hours per week) for a fixed term of 2 years and 6 months.
