Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to lead our Acute Medical Ward at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of the ward.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • 24-hour accountability for the ward, including line management and delivery of high-quality care.
  • Support and contribute to the development of patient care and practice within the Directorate.
  • Ensure junior staff and students have appropriate supervision and assessment.
  • Facilitate and organize the daily running of the ward, liaising with medical staff, bed manager, and allied healthcare professionals.

Person Specification
  • Registered General Nurse with Mentorship or equivalent qualification.
  • Nursing-related Degree or Diploma.
  • Relevant recent experience in a senior nursing role.
  • In-depth knowledge of current practice, holistic patient assessment, and professional issues in nursing and healthcare.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Able to recognize own boundaries of practice and respond to emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
