An exciting leadership opportunity has emerged for a dedicated Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to oversee the Frailty Hub.

We are looking for a proactive and self-driven leader who is passionate about enhancing care for acute frailty patients. This role requires someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and possesses a natural ability to manage shifting priorities to meet both clinical and operational demands.

The Frailty Hub at St Helier Hospital focuses on the early identification of frailty, initiating comprehensive assessments and management to ensure that older patients receive the most suitable services. This collaborative service is developed jointly between Acute Medicine and Emergency Medicine, aiming to improve the quality and efficiency of care.

Main Responsibilities

The Senior Sister/Charge Nurse will be accountable for:

  • Providing 24-hour oversight, including line management of the assessment area, ensuring high-quality care is delivered with all necessary systems in place for safe and effective patient care.
  • Contributing to the advancement of patient care practices within the Directorate and participating in Trust projects as needed, while ensuring staff development opportunities are available.
  • Supervising and supporting junior staff and students, ensuring appropriate assessments are conducted.
  • Coordinating the daily operations of the ward in collaboration with medical staff, bed managers, and allied health professionals.
