About the Role

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Anaesthetist Consultant to join our team. As a Consultant Anaesthetist With an interest in Head and Neck Surgery, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic services to patients undergoing surgery.

Main Responsibilities

  • To assist in the development of general anaesthesia services, ensuring they are delivered in a safe and timely manner.
  • To take lead in decision-making about the suitability of high-risk patients for anaesthesia.
  • To manage general anaesthetic services, ensuring they meet the needs of patients and the organisation.
  • To develop and showcase general anaesthesia modules in line with the RCoA curriculum.
  • To develop local services and practice using quality improvement projects.
  • To provide anaesthetic services according to the Job Plan and take ongoing responsibility for patients under your care.
  • To cooperate with other consultant anaesthetists to cover for annual, study, and professional leave.
  • To deputise for absent colleagues as far as is practicable.
  • To ensure adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in patient care to contact you when necessary.
  • To actively engage in planning and delivering developments in the Anaesthesia, Perioperative, and Pain Medicine Directorate for the Trust.
  • To develop and maintain special skills and interests appropriate to the agreed overall development of anaesthesia skills.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • CCT in anaesthesia (within 6 months of interview) with FRCA or equivalent.
  • At least 6 months advanced training in Regional Anaesthesia or equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications

  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • ALS certification (or equivalent).

Essential Experience

  • Comprehensive experience in anaesthesia for DGH-type surgical specialties.

Desirable Experience

  • Comprehensive, recent experience in anaesthesia relevant to job plan advanced airway/ regional blocks.
