Belfast, United Kingdom BOOKTRUST Full time £28,000

Community Outreach Specialist – Northern Ireland
We invite you to explore this opportunity to contribute to our mission.

Location: Hybrid with a minimum of 8 in-person days each month in the Belfast office

Contract: Part-time (3 days per week), Permanent

Salary: £28,000 FTE

BookTrust stands as the UK's foremost reading charity, reaching 3.4 million children annually with books, resources, and support. Our offerings are disseminated through health services, libraries, schools, and early years practitioners, complemented by guidance to foster a love for reading. The joy of reading significantly enhances educational outcomes, wellbeing, and social mobility, while also being a source of immense pleasure. We are dedicated to initiating children on their reading journey and providing ongoing support.

This is a pivotal moment for us; BookTrust is enhancing the Partnership Team that underpins our initiatives across Northern Ireland. By bolstering our capacity to engage with communities throughout the region, we aim to collaborate more effectively with local partners, focusing on the children and families who require our assistance the most.

As a Community Outreach Specialist, you will be an integral part of the regional partnerships team, facilitating projects, pilots, and learning initiatives to strengthen our place-based engagement with the BookTrust partner network. We seek a positive, enthusiastic, and credible representative with a proven track record in relationship-building and networking across diverse groups. Exceptional communication skills are essential, enabling you to engage effectively with a wide array of audiences, both in writing and verbally.

You may have experience working within or alongside local authority networks, in outreach roles, or within community projects in the third sector. A background in working with children and families facing challenges, particularly in relation to reading, is highly desirable. Familiarity with a specific community or region, along with established network connections, will be advantageous. You should be a self-motivated individual capable of managing multiple projects independently and efficiently, often under tight deadlines.

To learn more about the application process, please visit our website. We encourage you to submit your CV along with a covering letter that outlines how you meet the person specification and your motivations for pursuing this role. Your covering letter should be concise, not exceeding two pages.

Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusivity

We strive to maintain an inclusive recruitment process and actively welcome applications from diverse talent pools, including minority ethnic candidates, individuals with disabilities, and those from underrepresented communities.
