Role Overview

The Supply Chain Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the Supply Chain function, ensuring alignment with company protocols and the established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Planning: Develop, issue, and manage production schedules to guarantee timely and complete order fulfillment.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze current manual planning processes to identify areas for enhancement and implement automation where feasible.
  • Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning: Take ownership of the SIOP process, ensuring its effectiveness throughout the organization.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate with Purchasing, Stores, Goods In, Planning, and Shipping to address current operational demands and future strategic objectives.
  • Purchasing Expertise: Provide guidance to meet financial targets and customer service expectations while maintaining inventory within budget.
  • Performance Management: Establish ambitious yet achievable targets, monitor performance, and drive initiatives for Supply Chain improvement.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise a Buyer and Planner, managing existing Supply Chain KPIs such as Purchase Price Variance (PPV), on-time delivery, and inventory turnover.
  • Inventory Control: Ensure effective management of inventory to achieve maximum accuracy and minimal levels, aligning with budgetary constraints.
  • Supplier Management: Identify and evaluate new or replacement suppliers to ensure they meet quality and financial standards.
  • Operational Objectives: As a vital member of the Operations Management Team, provide strategic direction to achieve both short-term and long-term goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Set challenging goals for all Supply Chain functions based on industry best practices, fostering a culture of ongoing enhancement.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs and establish performance benchmarks for team members.
  • Customer Engagement: Represent Supply Chain interests in customer and external interactions as necessary.
  • Product Development Participation: Engage in product development and concurrent engineering activities, providing recommendations on sourcing strategies.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in Supply Chain Management within an engineering or manufacturing context.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Proven track record in cost reduction strategies.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver presentations at senior levels.

  • Competence in computer applications, including MRP systems and MS Office.
  • Exceptional Excel and data manipulation skills.
  • Familiarity with modern supply chain methodologies such as JIT, Kanban, and Lean.

  • A hands-on approach to all tasks.
