Role Overview

The Supply Chain Operations Leader will be responsible for overseeing the Supply Chain activities in alignment with organizational protocols and established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Planning: Develop, distribute, and manage production schedules to guarantee timely and complete order fulfillment.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze and enhance the current manual planning procedures to drive efficiency.
  • Team Development: Train team members to optimize the planning process and explore automation opportunities for existing manual tasks.
  • Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning: Take ownership of the SIOP process, ensuring its effectiveness throughout the organization.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate Supply Chain functions including Purchasing, Stores, Goods In, Planning, and Shipping to meet operational demands and strategic goals.
  • Purchasing Expertise: Provide support in Purchasing to achieve financial objectives and maintain customer service standards while managing inventory within budget.
  • Performance Management: Set ambitious, value-driven targets, monitor performance, and spearhead Supply Chain improvement initiatives.
  • Transactional Purchasing: Engage in tactical purchasing activities as required.
Performance Metrics

Manage existing Supply Chain KPIs such as Purchase Price Variance (PPV), on-time delivery, and inventory turnover while developing additional metrics to enhance business outcomes.

Inventory Management

Ensure effective inventory management to achieve maximum accuracy, minimal stock levels, and alignment with budgetary constraints, while minimizing scrap and obsolescence.

Supplier Management

Identify and evaluate new or replacement suppliers, ensuring they meet quality and financial standards.

Operational Leadership

As a vital member of the Operations Management Team, provide strategic direction to achieve both short-term and long-term operational objectives.

Continuous Improvement

Monitor, benchmark, and establish challenging yet attainable goals for all Supply Chain functions, fostering a culture of continuous improvement based on industry best practices.

Training and Development

Identify training requirements and set performance benchmarks for team members.

External Engagement

Represent the Supply Chain function at customer and external engagements as necessary.

Product Development Participation

Engage in product development and concurrent engineering initiatives, providing recommendations on Make or Buy decisions to ensure optimal customer supply value.

Qualifications

Proven experience in Supply Chain Management within an engineering or manufacturing environment, with a preference for organizations employing Lean Manufacturing principles. Demonstrated expertise in cost reduction strategies is essential.
