Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Security Officer to join our team at The University of Edinburgh. As a key member of our Security Department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors.
About the Role
The Security Officer will be responsible for providing 24/7 security cover across the University campus. This will involve patrolling the campus on foot and in vehicle, as well as assisting in the control room. You will be the first point of contact for staff and students in the event of a serious incident or crime, providing immediate support, guidance, and reassurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol the University campus on foot and in vehicle to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors.
- Assist in the control room to monitor security systems and respond to incidents.
- Provide immediate support, guidance, and reassurance to staff and students in the event of a serious incident or crime.
- Respond to fire and intruder alarms.
- Provide welfare support and signpost to other agencies as needed.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to remain calm under pressure.
- Good listener.
- Full driving licence.
- Computer literate.
- Good attention to detail.
