Key Responsibilities:- Manage site-based activities, including tooling, paperwork, site contact, time management, and staffing.
- Report lateness and sick reporting to the project manager and conduct regular talks to ensure that all engineer issues are heard and addressed.
- Lead inductions and tool box talks to site teams and accompany visitors around the site.
- Ensure all contractors have been supplied with permits to work on site.
- Provide the link between project managers/engineers and planning to ensure relevant site teams are aware of their workload under the supervisor's control.
- Provide feedback on site operative efficiencies and site-specific health and safety issues, including any training requirements.
- Lead site-based activities, including client liaison, updating the project manager on daily progress, and informing of any site issues that arise.
- Be the site leader on projects allocated to, with responsibility for all site-based activities while the project manager is not present.
- Work with the project manager on design input as required, which may include site surveys and design meetings with the technical department and/or clients.
- Provide instruction, guidance, support, and motivation to site teams.
- Undertake regular inspections of the workplace under your control to monitor the integrity of health and safety procedures and instill the virtues of behavioral culture change.
- Report and record any accidents/incidents or near misses that occur during activities under your control.
- Consider the environmental impact and its minimization when making any business decisions, including determining new materials and production processes, equipment, its operation and maintenance requirements, packaging, transport, and waste disposal.
- Ensure that policy standards and working procedures are fully understood by all employees (including subcontractors) under your control.
- Ensure that adequate measures are undertaken to ensure the safety and protection of the environment.
- Ensure any health, safety, environmental, quality incidents are investigated and reported.
- Set personal high standards as examples to teams and ensure good personal knowledge of operating systems.
- Identify any areas of the project that could have been improved and by what means to promote the use of best practices across the business.
- Ensure that manpower, tools/equipment, and vehicles are utilized fully for maximum efficiency to assist project managers/engineers in achieving the best possible project performances.
- Be aware of the financial objectives of all projects in their control to ensure they can influence the final results of completion to agreed timescales, expecting quality and maximum profitability.
- Encourage positive behavioral change in attitudes to issues that relate to business expenditure.
- Develop and maintain good internal and external customer relationships.
- Attend management meetings as requested to discuss relevant information to benefit both teams and the project.
- Specific skill-based qualification to level 3 or above, or 10 years field-based experience within a specific skill-based role.
- Additional field-based skill qualifications such as PASMA or MEWP training.
- Crane operations training (either Slinger/Signaller or Lift supervisor to CPCS standard).
- Health & Safety First Aid (3 day) and SMSTS (CITB).
- Confined Space Trained.
- Level 3 Leadership Training (or working towards).
- CSCS Supervisors card.
