Health and Safety Manager Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading Main Contractor in the construction industry as they continue to drive forward current and future groundbreaking projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and oversee all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the organisation.
  • Travel and work across multiple sites in Northern Ireland.
  • Assist with the compilation and implementation of H&S procedures, policies, and other documentation.
  • Conduct general risk assessments and method statements throughout all projects.
  • Promote a culture of safety and recommend new initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Review and approve subcontractors' risk assessments and method statements.
  • Coordinate and accompany subcontractors on site visits.
  • Visit sites to ensure that subcontractors are adhering to all H&S requirements.
  • Coordinate the availability of persons and facilities to ensure managers, supervisors, and employees attend and complete identified H&S training.
  • Monitor all subcontractors and companies plant to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with the review and implementation of the necessary RAMS documentation in line with third-party contract requirements.

Requirements:
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate in Health & Safety (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulations in Northern Ireland.
  • Working knowledge of risk assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR, and display screen equipment.
  • A proven track record of successfully managing health and safety in a construction environment.
  • A UK driving licence.
