Job Description

Job Title: Management Accountant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Management Accountant to join our team at JD Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing monthly management accounts, analyzing key cost areas, and providing challenge to the retail and procurement teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts for store variable costs, including detailed variance analysis and supporting commentary.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Produce monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying risks and opportunities, and communicating these to the Retail Finance Manager.
  • Reporting Packs: Assist with producing monthly, half-year, and year-end Group reporting packs.
  • Store P&L Reports: Assist with the production of monthly store P&L reports, liaising with Retail and highlighting variances to budget.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze key cost areas and provide challenge to the retail and procurement teams.
  • Meetings and Communication: Regular meetings with Retail and Procurement to gain an understanding of expected costs, highlight issues as they arise, and challenge costs where necessary.
  • Annual Budgets and Forecasts: Assist the Commercial Finance team with the production of annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts for store variable costs.
  • Financial Controls: Assist with the implementation of controls in line with the Group's Financial controls programme.
  • Audit Queries: Assist with audit queries.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Ad hoc project work as required.

Requirements:

  • Accounting Qualifications: Part Qualified/Finalist CIMA/ACA/ACCA accountant.
  • Experience: Experience of management accounting essential.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills required to identify and remediate risks.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills both written and verbal required.
  • Initiative: Ability to work under your own initiative.
  • Microsoft Office: Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Power BI/Power Query: Experience using Power BI/Power Query advantageous.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Retail Industry Experience: Retail industry experience desirable.
  • Oracle Financials and TM1: Experience of Oracle Financials and TM1 useful (though training will be provided).
  • Attitude: A positive, flexible, enthusiastic, and driven attitude.
