Overview:
The Financial Management Accountant plays a crucial role within the JD Group Finance division. In this position, you will be tasked with generating monthly financial statements, budgets, and forecasts for significant operational expenditures. Building robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders is essential to stay informed about the latest business developments and reporting obligations.
Key Responsibilities:- Reconcile sales against cash receipts for monthly membership revenues.
- Prepare key cost components within the monthly financial statements.
- Engage regularly with budget holders to conduct thorough variance analysis, providing supporting commentary and evidence for any discrepancies against budget, forecasts, and previous year results.
- Analyze critical cost areas and provide constructive feedback to relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare monthly Profit & Loss reports along with variance analysis.
- Compile and submit the quarterly VAT return to the Group, ensuring supporting control account reconciliations are completed.
- Ensure accurate and timely submissions to the Group.
- Produce monthly, half-yearly, and annual Group reporting packs.
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and quarterly re-forecasts for operational costs at the gym level.
- Guarantee compliance with all internal and external reporting deadlines.
- Continuously review and enhance all finance-related processes, including the broader implementation of purchase order management with business stakeholders.
- Maintain controls in accordance with the Group's financial control framework.
- Serve as the primary support for the Assistant Accountant.
- Assist with inquiries during audits.
- Undertake ad hoc project work as necessary.
Required Skills/Experience/Knowledge:
- Qualified CIMA/ ACA/ ACCA accountant.
- Essential experience in management accounting.
- Proven ability to work alongside and influence both financial and non-financial internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and mitigate risks.
- Capacity to investigate, comprehend, and articulate variances and overall business performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet stringent deadlines.
- Capability to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Attention to detail and accuracy are paramount.
- Familiarity with Oracle Financials and TM1 is preferred (training will be provided).
- A positive, adaptable, enthusiastic, and driven attitude.
