Digital Collections Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Collections Officer to join our team at Special Collections & Galleries, Leeds University Library. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for surveying, processing, and cataloguing born-digital archive materials, extracting metadata, and establishing archival structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surveying, processing, and cataloguing born-digital archive materials.
- Extracting metadata and establishing archival structures.
- Creating and verifying metadata according to agreed standards.
- Collaborating with the Digital Archivist to implement standards across collections.
- Processing collections from their arrival or capture through to ingestion.
- Creating catalogue records for born digital items.
- Managing rights and permissions metadata necessary for ingestion and access.
Requirements:
You will have a good understanding of archival principles and the challenges presented by digital archives. You will be a confident user of IT, willing and able to quickly learn and apply new systems, and have excellent problem-solving skills, able to identify and develop practical solutions. You will be a team-worker, able to collaborate productively, and have excellent communication skills – able to explain often complex policies and procedures to a wide range of stakeholders.
