About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Food Service Assistant to join our team at Guildford College. As a key member of our catering team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service to our staff and students.

Reporting to the Chef Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our catering outlet, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring our space is always presented to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with food preparation, adhering to healthy guidelines that promote balanced meals for everyone.
  • Operate our barista-style coffee machine to serve drinks.
  • Clear, clean, and store food and beverage equipment following safety protocols.
  • Label all food items in accordance with food safety regulations and follow allergen safety procedures.
  • Support hospitality orders, including preparation, setup, and delivery/collection across the campus.
What You Need to Succeed:

To excel in this position, you should bring strong customer service experience, ideally gained within the hospitality sector. Experience in food service or sales, along with any additional qualifications in catering or hospitality, would be highly beneficial. We are committed to providing training to ensure your success in this role.

  • Food Hygiene Certification: You should already hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, or be willing to undertake the necessary training to obtain one.
  • Food Service & Till Operation Experience: Previous hands-on experience in a food service environment, such as working as a café or till operator, will be critical.
  • Catering Outlets and Coffee Shop Experience: Ideally, you will have previous work experience in catering outlets, coffee shops, or similar food service areas.

This role requires individuals who are adaptable, customer-focused, and passionate about food service excellence.
