About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned commercial leader to join our team at Great British Nuclear as a Deputy Commercial Director. This critical role will provide strategic commercial leadership and support to the Commercial Director, ensuring the effective management of contracts and procurement activities across our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Leadership: Provide strategic commercial leadership and support to the Commercial Director, ensuring the effective management of contracts and procurement activities.
  • Contract Management: Oversee the management of complex contracts and procurement activities, ensuring compliance with nuclear industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Financial Management: Manage complex budgets, financial analysis, and cost control strategies within high-stakes, capital-intensive projects.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of commercial professionals, providing guidance and setting performance expectations.
  • Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement procurement strategies, business case preparation, contract negotiation, and strategic procurement for a portfolio of projects.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, technical teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the commercial viability of projects.
  • Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, identify potential contractual disputes or liabilities, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive commercial reports to senior management.
  • Representation: Represent the organisation in high-level commercial negotiations with clients, partners, and suppliers.
Requirements
  • Experience: A proven track record of successfully negotiating and managing high-value contracts within large-scale construction or engineering projects.
  • Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Law, or a related field. A Master's degree is desirable. If a Bachelor's degree is not in one of the aforementioned subjects, other relevant professional qualifications are required.
