Biomedical Scientist

We are seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic Cellular Pathology Department, providing an efficient and effective Histology and Diagnostic (Non Gynae) Cytology service to two general hospitals and local GP surgeries/community clinics.
Main Responsibilities- Undertake routine and specialized laboratory techniques in the processing of Diagnostic Cytology (Non Gynae).
- Support laboratory staff with queries and troubleshoot problems regarding sample acceptance and processing.
- Be prepared to cover any step in Non Gynae sample processing, staining, pre-screening, and sending cases to pathologists.
- Work within health and safety guidelines.
- Provide patients with high-quality diagnosis within agreed quality standards and turnaround times under senior staff supervision.
- Participate in the Laboratory Non Gynae pre-screen team and oversee the service in the absence of the Cytology Advanced Practitioner.

Job Requirements- IBMS Accredited BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
- HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist.
- IBMS Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology.
- Knowledge and experience of Histology/Diagnostic (Non Gynae) Cytology processing, techniques, pre-screening, and practices at post-honours degree level.
- Understanding and importance of Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures in the department (staining IQC).
- Ability to work across 3 different sites in a 24-7 work environment if required.
- Good knowledge and experience of industry-standard laboratory information management systems and computer applications.
